Support young women pursuing their goals!
Supporting the Next Generation
The Aruna Scholarship Fund was established by Aparna (Raj), an alumna of Marion High School from the Class of 2000, and her husband, Mihir Parikh, to give back to the town that shaped her and to support young women pursuing their goals. As a proud dad of three girls, Mihir’s name signifies the constant warmth and strength that sustains their growth, ensuring that other young women in the community have that.
The name Aruna, meaning “the glow of the rising sun,” reflects new beginnings and opportunity and linked to the name of their three daughters. The fund recognizes the strength and potential that connect generations:
- Aparna (Strength & Resilience): Representing determination and self-reliance, Aparna reflects the strong foundation behind this scholarship and the commitment to creating opportunities for others.
- Anaiya (Uniqueness & Confidence): Meaning “without equal,” Anaiya celebrates each recipient’s individuality and encourages them to pursue their education with confidence and independence. Anaiya is their oldest daughter.
- Ahana (Inner Light & Promise): Reflecting inner clarity and future potential, Ahana represents the ability within each student to grow, succeed, and see beyond current circumstances. Ahana is their middle daughter.
- Aavya (First Light & Initiative): Symbolizing the first ray of light, Aavya highlights the courage to take the first step — whether entering a new field, starting a project, or leading change in the community. Aavya is their youngest daughter.
By naming the fund Aruna, Aparna and Mihir connect their own experiences with the aspirations of future generations. The goal is simple: to help young women in the community access opportunities and reach their full potential.
MHSAA is so grateful for Aparna and Mihir's gift, which will impact generations to come! You can join them in supporting young women in Marion by giving to the Aruna Scholarship Fund.
